Winston Churchill once said, "Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never--in nothing, great or small, large or petty--never give in..." Is it surprising, then, that this came from someone who failed sixth grade and was defeated in every election for public office until he finally became Prime Minister at the age of 62?
We all know someone who has gone through some adversity in their life and risen above it. I met just such a person the other day. She had suffered a brain injury that put her in a coma for quite some time. She had to relearn most everything over again! The right side of her body never fully recovered and she still has a hard time with balance and coordination. And yet, there she was in one of my classes, pushing herself and not feeling one ounce of pity, at least that I could see. What a woman!
